I’m currently a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Spatial Dynamics Lab, University College Dublin. My research focuses on the intersection of data analytics and smart cities, aiming to leverage advanced data techniques to drive innovation and efficiency in urban environments. Specifically, my work addresses the optimization of urban planning, infrastructure improvements, and enhancing the overall quality of life for city residents.

I received my PhD in 2023 from Technological University Dublin, where my research focused on ‘Automating the Crowd-mapping Workflow with Deep Learning’. This innovative study explored the application of deep learning techniques to streamline and enhance the crowd-mapping process. By harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, my work aimed to make the collection and analysis of geographical data more efficient and accurate, ultimately contributing to better decision-making in fields such as urban planning, disaster response, and environmental conservation. This journey has been a fascinating exploration of the intersection between technology and geography, and I’m excited to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in this dynamic field under the guidance of my PhD supervisor, Dr. James D. Carswell. I completed my bachelor’s degree at the University of Colombo School of Computing in 2018.

My research interests revolve around data analytics, geographic information systems, and smart cities, focusing on how advanced data techniques can drive innovation and efficiency in urban environments. I am passionate about leveraging artificial intelligence to improve data collection and analysis processes, enhancing decision-making in urban planning, disaster response, and environmental conservation.
